I have a 1990 carry that naves a humming/grinding noise in the front diff when in 4X4. I’ve only noticed it when it started snowing ”using the 4x4 now” anyone know of any solutions? Checked other forms and didn’t find any answers. Thx

After lots of frustration I finally figured out my problem my nut on my axle lock shift collar was loose
Do you know what type of oil is in the diff? Lots of guys just dump 90w gear lube in there which at -10 would be like a solid blob
Oil is clean and i e only heard it when it’s cold out -10c or more I would say
Could definitely be a number of issues from front drive shaft u-joints to front CV shafts to internal differential issues. Have you checked the condition of the front diff gear oil?
